Hello, my name is Elise Ressa. I graduated from Tufts in 2014, and I live in Watertown, MA, with my husband, 2-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, 3-month-old son, Emmett, and cat, Lucy.

Job Description: We are looking for child care for our son, Emmett, while I take Elizabeth to a local Mommy and me class during my parental leave this fall (end date: 12/16). This position would only include taking care of Emmett, including feeding him a bottle, “playing” with him on his playmat for tummy time, and putting him down for a nap. No additional household responsibilities are expected.

When: Tuesdays, 9:30am-12pm (to start immediately and end 12/16)

Location: Watertown, MA (near Victory Field). We are accessible via public transportation but a car is easier and free street parking is available.

Rate: $25-$28/hour

Description: We are looking for a part time after school sitter to pick up our two lovely children, age 8 and 6 from school in Arlington Heights. Monday pick up is 2:30pm and I will be home by 4:30pm and Wednesday pick up is 1:00pm and I’ll be home 4:30pm. The kids’ school is 2.5 blocks away so you can walk or drive to pick them up. Part time morning care needed [Ball Square, Somerville]

We’re looking for a part time babysitter to help with kid drop offs 2 or 3 mornings per week in Somerville, near the ball sq T stop. Kids are 2.5yrs & almost 5.

Responsibilities::

– Set up car seats / vests

– Arrive at 7:30

– Leave between 7:45-7:55 AM

– Drop off kid 1 at 8:15 AM in East Somerville (you’d have to take both kids out of the car & walk back)

– Drop off kid 2 at 8:30-8:40 AMish in Porter Sq (usually only takes about 15 mins but added buffer in case late)

Total distance here would be just under 5 miles driving

Rate: Approximately $30/hr + additional buffer to account for traffic and any time needed to set up car. If you would like to pick up a little more time per day. Happy to share more details on this by email. Scheduled weeks would match Somerville school calendar.

Note: It is possible that you may be able to do this by public transit, but there’s a decent amount of walking and the bus schedule is somewhat irregular. If this is something you would be interested in but you don’t have a car, please message me. The 2nd child just needs to be dropped off by 9:30 AM so it’s definitely possible.

Friday Afternoon Babysitting [Somerville]

What: Pick the kids up from the bus, take them to the playground or library (both adjacent to the bus stop), bring them back to our house.
When: Friday afternoons, 3:30pm – 5:30pm, beginning ASAP. Potential to add Monday in late October.
Where: Bus stop, park, library, and our house are all a 10 minute walk from Davis Square. No car required.

On-Call Family Assistant / Backup Nanny (Retainer + Premium Pay) [Somerville]

Location: Somerville 02143 — near Lincoln Park | Argenziano School (4th & 7th grade)

I’m a solo dad (50% custody) looking for a reliable on-call helper for two girls (9 & 12). My kids love dance (ballet and hip-hop), musical theater, cheerleading, graphic novels, making zines, and creating art. My oldest wants to be an architect when she grows up, and my youngest wants to be a ballet dancer and teacher. It’s tricky with only one parent in the house, especially when things happen like one kid gets sick, I need to travel for work, or both kids need to get to two different places at the same time. I am willing to pay a premium for a family assistant to help out when necessary, but only during the following times:

On-call availability windows (what you’re paid a monthly retainer to hold)

Every Monday from 2:35pm (school dismissal) through every Wednesday at 2:35pm (school dismissal)
Every other weekend block: every other Friday at 2:35 pm through the following Wednesday at 2:35 pm

What “on-call” means here

You add these windows to your calendar and can confirm within a couple hours when I reach out
These are availability windows, not guaranteed shifts. Depending on our needs, I may call you once or several times a month
The retainer (paid at the end of each month) compensates you for being reliably reachable and ready to step in during these windows

Responsibilities:

Backup sick days when the kids need to stay home from school, as well as Monday school holidays and school vacation weeks
Occasional overnights (1–2 nights/month max) when I am away on business trips
Occasional grocery shopping or running errands

Pay & Retainer:

$150 monthly retainer: paid at the end of each month regardless of hours worked, in exchange for guaranteed availability on our schedule
$30–$35/hr for active hours (in addition to monthly retainer)
$150/night for overnights (+ hourly for evening time)

Ideal Candidate:

Nearby grad student, retiree, creative, or professional with a super flexible schedule that aligns with ours
Reliable, warm, and able to step in on short notice
Likes cooking and baking with kids (especially brownies!)
Interested and capable in engaging in creative art-making with children (think improv theater, 3D printing of their creations, helping with dance choreography, costume creation, and more!)

Tutoring Opportunity

I am looking for a tutor/tutors for my two children, ages 10 and 13 (they are in 5th and 8th grade in the Somerville public school system).

For my 10 year old girl, we are looking for someone to reinforce math skills with her. She gets flustered during class time and would like a little extra practice/reinforcement. We would like to start meeting 1x week, Tuesday or Thursday anytime after she gets out of school (2:30 PM) until 4 or 4:30.

My 13 year old son has ASD1 and ADHD and is often behind on school work. He could use some supervision/guidance getting work done (ELA and SS are particularly tough for him but sometimes he needs help in math as well). He also could use some assistance making schedules and routines for himself. He enjoys computer programming so someone with a knowledge base in that would be a plus, but not necessary. Tuesday or Thursday are also ideal, 1 hour at a time.

Ideally this would be the same person, who would work with my daughter for an hour, then my son for another hour. We can start with one day a week and possibly work up to two if it feels right. I can offer $30/hr.

We’re looking for an after school caregiver for our energetic 2.5 and 5 year olds, on Monday, Wednesday and maybe Friday afternoons, 2:30–5/6pm. We’d like for you to pick up our 5 year old from kindergarten, spend time at a nearby park or playground, pick up our 2.5 year old from daycare, and come home to play and have an early dinner.
