Lessons from 6 countries on how to end coronavirus lockdowns: Bhaskar Chakravorti in Business Insider

Many countries are considering their exit strategies from the “Great Lockdown” while others have already began to ease up. The urgency to lift lockdown orders is largely economic, as the pandemic is wreaking havoc on people’s livelihoods as well as local and national economies.

Just as each nation chose a different route into lockdown, each is likely to choose its own exit path. I have launched a research initiative, “Imagining a Digital Economy for All 2030,” with a focus on the post-pandemic global economy.

New research from Digital Planet helps explain how governments and citizens have acted to contain the spread of COVID-19 and analyzes how prepared they were to move their economies online during the Great Lockdown. The analysis also offers ways to gauge which countries are best prepared for a safe exit.
