Coming Up at the Leir Institute

Dear Friends,

Nearly two decades ago, the Institute for Human Security opened at The Fletcher School to bring together students and faculty whose work lay at the intersection of humanitarianism, development, human rights, and conflict resolution. By the time it was renamed in honor of Henry J. Leir in 2017, the Leir Institute boasted over 1,000 alumni transforming the field of human security as practitioners, academics, and decision-makers.

We are proud to serve as a resource for The Fletcher School’s global network of human security faculty, alumni, and current students. Here, we have compiled some of the highlights from their work in the last year. From engaging events, to student projects, to innovative research, the Leir Institute community continues to shape the field of human security policy and practice. Read on to see what our faculty, alumni, and students have been up to – and how you can get involved with our work.

Thank you for your ongoing work in this important field. We are thrilled to count alumni like you as part of the global Leir Institute community!

Sincerely,
Professor Eileen F. Babbitt
Director, Henry J. Leir Institute
