Searching for a Home Aide

We are looking for help for our family of four in Belmont (on the Arlington line), including two boys (14 and 11) starting September, 2023. As our boys get older, what we need is another set of hands and a driver, more than a true babysitter. We are hoping for someone to help Monday through Thursday from roughly 3pm to 8pm. Must be a safe driver with a safe car.

Jobs may include:

  • Driving the boys to sporting events and other activities
  • Preparing dinner
  • Wash/dry/fold laundry and load/unload dishwasher
  • Helping tidy (pick up clutter or wipe down counters, but not housecleaning) and organize
  • Grocery shopping

Seeking Babysitter near Davis Square

We are seeking an occasional weekend evening babysitter for our 14 month old daughter this summer and into the next academic year. Our baby is good natured and sleeps through the night (as long as she has her paci)! We’re seeking an occasional date night sitter who would predominantly be watching our daughter after she has already been put down to bed – so, mostly watching the baby monitor and being on site in case anything were to happen. The ideal candidate would be an experienced sitter who is a non-smoker. We’re located in North Cambridge, less than a half mile from the Davis Square T-Stop (we can make a visitor’s parking pass available to those who drive). We anticipate needing a sitter for a few hours 1-2 evenings per month. The babysitter would need to be comfortable with dogs. We have a 4 year old goldendoodle who will be in the home. The sitter is not expected to walk/care for the dog, but the dog will be there (probably sleeping/demanding attention), so a comfort with dogs is important.

Seeking after-school care for 7YO & 4YO in West Medford

Our family is looking for a part-time babysitter to care for our 7YO son and 4YO daughter after school/camp. Our most pressing need is for coverage on Tuesday evenings when we need someone who can arrive at our house by 4:45pm to get our car in order to pick up our kids from school and then give them dinner and get them ready for bed. (Dinner would be prepared; only re-heating required).

Starting June 20, we’re looking for someone who can pick up our kids from camp Monday through Thursday starting at 4pm and hang with them until 5:30 or 6 (go to a park, the local pool, etc.).

Start date: Tuesday, 5/23 | Tuesday, 6/20 (see above and below for more information)

Schedule: 

  • Tuesdays from 5/23 to 6/13 from 4:45pm to ~7:30pm 
  • Starting 6/20, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm (Tuesdays until ~7:30pm). I know this is a little confusing, so please reach out if you’re interested so I can explain!

Requirements: Ability to get to our home independently (our home is very close to the intersection of Winthrop St. & Lawrence Rd., walkable and accessible by bus from Tufts); driver’s license; COVID vaccinated/boosted; babysitting references.

Pay: Starting at $27/hour.

Babysitter needed (Medford)

Description: We are seeking a babysitter for our 5 month old daughter this summer. The ideal candidate will have experience with this age. Mom and dad work from home but will occasionally need a sitter for a few hours at a time to independently watch baby, take her on walks, play, put down for naps, change, and feed. Baby will be going to daycare in September so this is currently a summer role, but ideally we will form a strong relationship with this sitter for future occasions such as date nights, etc.

Hours: Support will mostly be needed mid-week with flexible hours (usually a few hours between 9-5). We can chat about what works best for your schedule.

Part-time babysitter (Medford)

We are a family of five (children ages 6, 4 and 10 months) in search of a part-time babysitter/nanny to take care of our baby at our house in Medford Square. Our two older children will be in school full-time. The most important thing for us is to find someone who seems like a good fit for our family, and our experience has been that education students are a very good fit. In other words, we are happy to discuss the schedule and to organize it in a way that works well for someone who would like to work with us, and for that person’s busy schedules/other commitments/commute. We are all vaccinated and boosted and are looking for a babysitter/nanny who is also vaccinated and boosted.

A bit about our family: We are all American-born and the US is our home, but we have spent much of the last few years living in Australia and Berlin. Our children have been in German-speaking schools/preschools primarily, but our family language is English. We don’t have a TV and try to spend as much time on bicycles and outdoors as we can (a challenge in New England, but we do try). Our son will be 15 months old in September 2023 and he is a happy, independent baby.

Schedule: Ideally starting at the beginning of September 2023 (when I return to work from maternity leave). The schedule we have in mind would be two or three mornings a week, perhaps 9am – 1pm, totaling between 10-15 hours per week, at times when both parents are working. I am a researcher without teaching duties, so I set my own hours and am happy to work with students who have busy, changeable schedules. We can offer work for the full academic year but can easily accommodate travel, semester breaks, etc.

Pay: We can offer consistent hours at a rate of $20-$25/hour, commensurate upon experience.

Looking for a part-time sitter to watch our two sons (Age 4 and Age 5) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and occasional evenings. They love going to the park, biking, scootering, playing piano, going to the library etc.Must have a vehicle and be comfortable driving, as we need someone to pick them up from their morning preschool program. Other duties would include some meal prep (lunch and dinner), giving them snacks, and general tidying up around the house (cleaning kitchen after meals, helping put away the kids clothes and toys).We ideally want someone who can start mid-May and stay with our family through the summer (end of July/August).Must have a good driving record and be able to provide references.

Weekly Babysitter (North Cambridge)

Hello! We are looking for a babysitter for our happy and curious 17-month old daughter. We would like someone to help for a couple of hours, 1-2x per weekdays, and occasional evenings, mostly on Fri or Sat. The day of the week is flexible (preference for mid-week), and there is room for increased hours depending on desire.

Duties: Picking her up from daycare (walking distance from our house), feeding her dinner, changing diapers if necessary, and playing inside or outside. On evenings/weekends, it would also include putting her down for her nap or putting her down for the night.

Location: We live in North Cambridge, a short walk from Davis Square. No driving is required.

Requirements: Enjoys spending time with toddlers, experience caring for young children. Non-smoker. Up to date on COVID/flu vaccine. CPR/first-aid certified preferred. Excellent references.

Summer nanny (Arlington Heights)

We are looking for a summer sitter for our 4.5 yo girl and 6.5 yo boy. I’m a data scientist, and my husband is in academia. I will be working from home and should be available if needed (or I can hide upstairs if that’s more helpful). All our family members are fully vaccinated/boosted, and we are a non-smoking, no-pet family. 

Hours: 11 am-5 pm or 12-5 pm (kids will be at a camp in the morning).

Dates: 6/20-30, 7/5-21 (but we are flexible with dates. If you are only available for a few weeks and still interested in this opportunity, we can work something out). 

Duties: Spending time with our kids 🙂 They love art & craft, and outdoor activities (we live right across from the Hill’s Hiil Playground and the Summer Street Field). We also have plenty of toys/board games at home. There will be no other responsibilities such as kids pick-up/drop-off, house errands, etc.

Pay: $25-$27/hour

Benefits: Guaranteed hours of at least 5 hours per day ($125+/day). On top of the hourly wage, We will pay an extra $10 per day to reimburse transportation expenses (gas, bus, etc).

Location: Arlington Heights near the Ed burns ice rink. About 4 miles from the Tufts campus. We also have free parking.

Tuesday & Thursday afternoon babysitter (Medford)

Hello! We are looking for a responsible, fun person to hang out with our kids (9 and 12 years old) after school two days per week (3-5pm-ish). 

Responsibilities: The kids are pretty self-sufficient – we want someone to hang out with them, take walks, kick around a soccer ball, bike/scooter, hang out with them outside, walk into Medford Square, etc. 

Location: We live in Medford near Medford High School and Victory Park. 

Requirements: Enjoys spending time with older kids/tweens. Non-smoker. Up to date on covid vaccine. We have a friendly dog.
