Part-time STEM teaching position with MITES (MIT)

MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science (MITES), one of the nation’s leading pre-college STEM programs for underrepresented students, is currently hiring for the following temporary positions for the Fall semester.

This is the perfect opportunity for graduate students who are seeking part-time teaching positions on Saturdays that help contribute to equity and diversity in STEM. We’re currently seeking out applicants for:

  • Academic Mentoring Seminar (AMS) Instructor, MITES Saturdays
    • Part-time, In-person
    • 10-12 hours per week, $30/hour
    • Timeline: Fall: Sep-Dec; Spring: Feb-May (8 Saturdays and occasional evening virtual meetings)
    • The MITES Saturdays Academic Mentoring Seminar (AMS) Instructor plays a critical role in working towards the program’s goal of developing a cohort of “thinking minds” equipped to be successful in technical fields and at the country’s top colleges and universities. In collaboration with other Academic Mentoring Seminar Instructors, the AMS Instructor is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive curriculum focused on leadership, character education, social-emotional skill building, high academic achievement, college and career access, and community/social action. Throughout the program, Instructors are expected to assess student performance/academic needs and provide resources to help promote student success. At the end of the program, Instructors will document course materials and write narrative evaluations of each student. Weekend Babysitter (Magoun Sq, Somerville)

We are looking for a weekends & occasional date night sitter for our 2 boys (5 years old & 18 months old) in Somerville. We are located near the green line train station Magoun Sq and right next to the bike path! If you do drive, we will provide you with a guest permit as well to park on a street nearby.

We are a family of 4. Both our kids are in school & daycare during the weekdays. We are looking for a babysitter on weekends to engage with the kids while we run errands, go for walks, etc. Responsibilities would be to engage in activities that both the kids enjoy e.g building something with blocks, magnatiles, going to the parks nearby (weather permitting), building race tracks, etc. Also, if the hours are around the younger one’s naptime – putting him down for a nap.

Hours – Saturday or Sunday (2-3 hours). We can discuss the hours based on your schedule as well & other commitments we may have. Also, would like availability for date night babysitting as well.

Babysitter for 1-year-old (Davis Square, Somerville)

We are looking for a babysitter to help watch our 1 year old daughter. I am an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at Tufts. We are located a short walk from campus in Somerville, near Davis Sq. 

We are looking for a babysitter that is available to help on the odd evening and/or weekends. We are looking for someone who has experience with infants or toddlers. Preference will be given to candidates who are CPR and first aid certified.

STEM Instructors & Site Directors (Greater Boston)

Empow Studios teaches kids 7-15 years old in STEM in classes after school and weekend, and in camps during the summer throughout the Greater Boston area. Our topics include coding, robotics, video game design, film & animation, digital design, and Minecraft.

STEM Instructors teach one tech class of typically 10 students per week and ensure that students have a great time learning and building cool stuff. $18-$25 per hour. This is a part-time role during the school year and full-time during the summer.

Site Directors lead a team of instructors to inspire and educate youth to create projects using today’s latest computer technologies and engage campers with games, outdoor play, and other fun activities. $25-$30 per hour.

3Point hiring for SEL

3PointFoundation is looking to hire someone to teach our social emotional learning curriculum for middle schoolers, once a week from 9:00-12:00 on Sundays, starting in February for 8 weeks. This would entail teaching 3 classes for 45 minutes each with the assistance of university students.

The compensation of $30/hr. would include an hour of prep time.
