A Dremel is a hand power tool found in the Bray Shop, it has multiple tip attachments to allow you to sand or cut small pieces. Dremels can also be used to engrave or etch onto a material.
Location: The Shop, Room 114
SAFETY: Eye protection must be worn at all times as small pieces of material might fly as you sand/cut. Proper machine shop attire should be worn at all times by the operator.
Set up and Operation
- Make sure you are wearing safety goggles
- Using the small wrench provided in the Dremel kit, loosen the nut positioned at the top of the Dremel by pressing on the lock button and turning the wrench
- Place the bit you would like to use into the Dremel, then using the same wrench, tighten the nut around the bit.
- Connect the power cord to the outlet and use the switch to turn on the Dremel
- Using the scroll wheel on the handle, you can adjust the speed of rotation
- When in use, careful not to touch the spinning bit as it is spinning at great speed
