Literacy Coach for 2 Early Elementary friends with ADHD

We are two families seeking some fun literacy/phonics coaching over the summer for two girls, ages six and seven.  Both children are around the same reading level: learning the letters, the sounds they make, and beginning stages of sounding out words.

Our goal is to give these two friends a cooperative learning opportunity that appeals to their interests and also gives them many movement breaks. Both children have been diagnosed with ADHD, and so lessons that can be in the form of outside games, art projects, theatrical performances, neighborhood hikes, and phonics scavenger hunts would be ideal for engaging these enthusiastic, creative adventurers.

These two kiddos have known each other since they were babies. They share many of the same interests, including performing arts, dance, nature, playing in sand and water, arts and crafts, fantastical imaginative role playing, cats and tigers, Pokemon, legos, vampires, superheroes, and cooking. They have been known to put on a good puppet show together, and have also recorded some vampire-themed podcasts.

Applicants must be LGBTQ+ friendly.

We live fifteen minutes away from one another in Medford and Arlington. Both home spaces are available for sessions with indoor work and play spaces as well as backyards. Both families live walking distance to playgrounds.  We can also provide transportation to a third location if needed. Note that both homes also have cats in residence.

We are hoping for three or more sessions a week with availability on most weekends as well as weekdays after 4:30.
If the summer works well, we would be excited to continue sessions into the fall with availability weekends and weekdays after 3:00.

Compensation: $35-40 per hour depending on level of experience. Supplies and snacks will be reimbursed.

References and background check required.

Interested applicants should email Anne Marie Darling at at annemarie.darling@gmail.com or call 617-583-3109.
