Computer Hardware

Public Computing Space Hardware

  • 15 – Seated computer stations running Windows 10 desktops with 24″ LCD monitors
  • 3 – Standing work stations running Windows 10 desktops with 24″ LCD monitors
  • 7 – Group study/collaboration rooms with Large Screen Monitors (additional multimedia connections available)

Room 514 – The Big Lab

  • 25 – Student desktops running Windows 10 with 24″ LCD monitors
  • An instructor’s podium a networked Windows 10 desktop, a rotating monitor, and various multimedia connections
  • An overhead projector and a large projector screen

Room 510 – The Little Lab

  • 12 – Student desktops running Windows 10 with 24″ LCD monitors
  • An instructor’s podium with a networked Windows 10 desktop, a rotating monitor, and various multimedia connections
  • An Overhead Projector and projector screen
  • SMART Board

Printers

Data Lab Color & Black and White Laser Printers

  • Printing is “Pay for Print” and only accept JumboCash via a Tufts ID card.
  • Printer Name = “Boston_Medford” & “Boston_Color”
  • Print jobs are sent to self-service print stations and can be retrieved on either the 4th or 5th floors, no matter from which floor the job was sent. Both black & white and color printers are available on the 4th and 5th floors.
  • The following amounts will be debited from your JumboCash account:
    • Black & white duplex/double-sided printing: $.15/page (This is the default.)
    • Black & white single-sided printing: $.10/page
    • Color duplex/double-sided printing: $.45/page
    • Color single-sided printing: $.30/page

Printing from your Personal Laptop

You can send jobs directly to Hirsh Health Sciences Library (HHSL) and Data Lab printers once your computer is connected to the Tufts network and a simple program is installed. Please select one of the following links for directions for how to setup wireless printing on your computer:


Tufts Print Copy Services

Additional printing services, such as large format printing, are available through the Tufts Print Copy Services located at 75 Kneeland Street, Boston. Telephone: 617.636.5373


Scanners & Digitizers

Scanning Stations

    • Two self-service scanners, (Avision model number: DT-0602S &  iVina model number: iVina FB6280E) are available in the Data Lab on the 5th floor of HHSL in the MEB in the public computing area.
    • Scanning instructions are posted at each scanning station. If you should need further assistance on how to operate the scanners, please ask one of the IT staff members at the TTS Walk-Up Support Desk.
  • The scanners are free of charge to use.  We suggest that you save the scanned file to your own USB flash drive or to your email address.
