My name is Jeannette Passanisi and I am a mom of a young man with Autism. 

We are looking for someone to work 1:1 with our 19yr son who has autism and is non-verbal to assist with building life skills in the home and community.  We are located half a mile from Tufts on the Medford side.

The fall hours are Tues & Thurs 3:30-6:00 pm and one Saturday a month from 4:30-8:30 pm. Summer hours would be Tues & Thurs 2:15-5:45 pm with one additional weekday plus one Saturday a month from 4:30-8:30 pm.

It would be nice to have an applicant with experience with working toward DECE goals (IEP) with individuals on the spectrum. 

Activities include laundry, shopping, dining out and community safety. Provide companionship and supervision.

School Psychologist/Adjustment Counselor Position

Swampscott High will be opening a new school psych position next year.

The position is for a school psychologist/adjustment counselor position.  The person will work in Swampscott’s SWIFT program- their BRYT program- a return from hospitalization/extended absences program.  It is a clinical coordinator position.  The school psychologist would be responsible for counseling all of the students that access the program and will act as a liaison among the outside supports, the parents, and the school team.  Additionally there will be the opportunity for conducting psychological evaluations (if the candidate is interested).

Our synagogue school meets on Sunday, 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.  Current teacher openings are for 1 and 2 day per week classes which meet on Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon, and one teacher’s assistant position for Sunday morning.  Curriculum subjects vary by grade, and they include: Hebrew, Prayer, Holidays, Bible, Israel, History and Mitzvot (obligations).

Applicants should be excited to teach children, have a strong Jewish background, and be willing to collaborate on lesson planning (follow a written curriculum and submit a lesson plan prior to class).  Temple Shalom is a Conservative Movement affiliated synagogue.  We offer teacher support, generous compensation, a relaxed setting and small student groups.  Candidates will need a car for transportation, ideally, although we are approximately a 30-minute walk from Tufts University, and we help coordinate and provide carpools among Tufts teachers.

Summer 2022 Exam Operations Assistant Needed

Tufts University seeks a part-time temporary Exam Operations Assistant to support remotely proctored exams during the Summer 2022 academic terms.

Responsibilities: Under limited supervision, the Exam Operations Assistant plays a key role in facilitating remotely proctored exams on behalf of Tufts faculty. The Assistant will serve as the primary point of contact for faculty and students regarding remote proctored exams, and will fulfill a variety of complex responsibilities, including those listed below.

User Support

  • Consulting with faculty on remote proctoring options.
  • Assisting faculty with building exams in the Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Authoring and maintaining documentation for student and faculty audiences.
  • Responding to general inquiries from faculty and students and escalating matters to Online & Blended Learning colleagues as appropriate.
  • Limited proctoring of students using the Zoom web conferencing system.

Exam Administration

  • Scheduling exam windows through the ProctorU remote proctoring service.
  • Updating Canvas course sites with exam documentation and announcements.
  • Monitoring student exam reservations.
  • Arranging exam accommodations for authorized students.
  • Investigating technical and administrative incidents affecting remote exams and coordinating with colleagues and ProctorU representatives to resolve ongoing concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to balance conflicting priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as an ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to work remotely for 15–20 hours per week, Monday–Friday

Additional

  • Previous experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience using remote collaboration tools, including Box and Zoom.
  • Experience administering or maintaining Canvas course sites.
  • Availability to work limited evening and weekend hours during periods of high demand.

Part Time Lead Forest School Teacher

Cooperative forest school is a newly formed cooperative forest school based in the woods of Masachusett (specifically the Cambridge/Medford/Stoneham area) for children ages 2-6.

We are a group of parents and caregivers creating an educational program for our children based on the principles of community care, collaborative play, exploration, nurturing and environmental stewardship. United by a commitment to play-based outdoor education, we came together amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to create a much needed community and a deliberate and safer learning environment for our children. 

We are looking for a Part Time Lead Forest School Teacher who shares our vision to join our adventure in care and community.

Duties

  • Make sure children are safe and supported
  • Observe children’s behavior and learning, and foster problem solving, collaboration, confidence building and imagination by providing scaffolding experiential learning based on those observations
  • Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety in the forest and on any field trips
  • Help children resolve and negotiate conflicts when they arise; support development of self-regulation, impulse control and coping mechanisms through supporting conflict resolution; use consistent techniques in guiding children’s behavior
  • Develop strong positive partnerships with families, students, and possible co-teachers
  • Use positive, appropriate and supportive language with children
  • Embrace a wide variety of weather conditions as pedagogical inspiration

Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood education and/or outdoor/nature education programs 
  • Strong emotional intelligence, including empathy and listening skill set
  • Loves working with young children and is energetic and passionate about working one-on-one with children, as well as with groups of children
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of hazards and risk assessment as related to the environments of young children
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively in an all outdoor, forest setting, and open and flexible to new ideas
  • Dedication to place-based education and a passion for exploring the natural environment. Working knowledge of local flora, fauna, and seasonal changes is a plus!
  • Physically able to walk up to 2 miles a day, in all weather, and lift objects of up to 50lbs.
  • Current Emergency First Aid and Child CPR certificate; (or willing to obtain quickly)
  • Comfortable with meeting children where they are on a given day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal studies in the core subjects of Early Childhood Education
  • At least one to two years preschool teaching experience
  • Knowledge of forestry, environmentalism, conservation, herbology, any and all Earth based / nature based wisdom or knowledge

The Yleana Leadership Foundation is interested in recruiting both grads and undergrads for a transformative SAT summer camp that is part SAT bootcamp, part on-campus college experience, and part traditional summer camp.
