“Gather” screening and discussion Nov 27, 2020 3 pm
Join us on Friday, November 27 at 3 pm (EST) for a screening of the recent film Gather from director Sanjay Rawal and the First Nations Development Institute, followed by a virtual discussion with Chef Nephi Craig. Click here to register.
Gather documents the growing movement among Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty. The film follows several people and projects that are working to reestablish connections between people, land, and food, including Chef Nephi Craig’s Café Gozhóó, a restaurant and nutritional recovery clinic under the aegis of the Rainbow Treatment Center.
The screening at Tufts is sponsored by the Environmental Studies Program and its Food Systems and Nutrition minor, along with the Indigenous Students’ Organization at Tufts (ISOT), the Native American and Indigenous Studies minor of the Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora Department, and the Department of Anthropology.
