St. Ann’s Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services We are currently seeking teacher assistants for our education program. Candidates for this position must possess a bachelors degree. Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the implementation of small group lessons in language and math
  • Assist the classroom teacher in other subject areas
  • Responsible for much of the one-to-one attention given to children who need extra help
  • Participate in weekly supervision, attend staff meetings, and participate in our in-service training program
  • Participate in meetings with the treatment teams regarding the children in their classrooms

Teacher assistants should be able to sit for long periods of time, drive a motor vehicle, write extensively, talk for long periods of time, and be able to communicate with other agency personnel, LEA representatives, families and the children. Teacher assistants should be able to react quickly, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, climb stairs and be able to physically restrain youth in an emergency to ensure everyone’s safety is maintained. Staff are trained in current best practice techniques to safely respond to occasional aggressive, self-injurious or unsafe behaviors.

The mission of St. Ann’s Home & School is to provide a continuum of assessment, treatment, educational, and community-based services for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of mental health, emotional, and educational challenges. We seek to provide state-of-the-art programming and services in collaboration with these clients, their families, and other community and state agencies to help them manage their disabilities through our residential, day school, and community outreach programs with the goal of supporting the child in the least restrictive setting.

Job Description
WMSI is seeking a caring, enthusiastic problem-solver! WMSI develops and delivers hands-on STEM programs all around New Hampshire and northeastern Vermont. A Program Instructor independently facilitates hands-on, educational STEM programs for students 3-5 days per week in northern New Hampshire and Vermont locations. This Instructor’s primary focus is working with school teachers to provide high quality school-day and after-school STEM education for elementary school students, as well as some middle and high school students. Mentorship of high school students in an effort to train them as assistant instructors is also an integral part of the Instructor role. This position involves an active role in lesson prep and driving a van to multiple locations within 1.5 hours of base in Littleton to facilitate programs. Office hours spent organizing teaching materials, assistance in the creation and evaluation of engaging lessons, creating documentation for future instructors, and additional office tasks are also included in this position.

Duties Will Include:

  • Regular facilitation of off-site and on-site STEM-based youth programs, camps & workshops for primarily elementary school students, as well as some middle and high school students
  • Support with STEM-based teacher coaching and professional development workshops
  • Training and mentorship of high school youth instructors 
  • Organization & maintenance of program-related resources & equipment
  • Regular communications with teachers and other stakeholders at partner schools
  • Assistance in preparation & evaluation of lesson curriculum
  • Assistance in evaluation of all programs
  • Assistance in organizational maintenance tasks related to running a non-profit

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be motivated and self-directed
  • At least 1-3 years experience working with youth – essential
  • Ability to support and empower students in the creative problem-solving process – essential
  • Ability to set a positive environment within a room – essential
  • Interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math – essential
  • Completion of post-secondary degree or equivalent experience – preferred
  • Prior science, technology, engineering, or math training – a plus
  • Strong communication and organization skills 
  • A flexible team player who is willing to learn from mistakes and adapt
  • Motivated to improve as an instructor and facilitate new material
  • Comfortable driving a van long distances safely in variable weather conditions

Schedule:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Programs take place during the school day and/or after-school timeframe
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend programs possible

Program Assistant/Intern/Instructor Position for The Boys’ Room

Seeking a Program Assistant/Intern/Instructor for the 2022-2023 academic school year. All are welcome to apply but a Black/Brown male student in their junior/senior or graduate year is preferred. Empow Studio STEM Instructors Needed

Empow Studios teaches kids 7-15 years old in STEM in classes after school and weekend, and in camps during the summer throughout the Greater Boston area. Our topics include coding, robotics, video game design, film & animation, digital design, and Minecraft.

STEM Instructors teach one tech class of typically 10 students per week and ensure that students have a great time learning and building cool stuff. $17-$30 per hour. This is a part-time role during the school year and full-time during the summer.

Outreach Learning Fellow – Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach

Fellows will spend sixty minutes once a week in a classroom supporting the students to do hands-on engineering. Fellows will work with the same classroom throughout the semester. The focus of the work will revolve around engineering, social-emotional learning, and DEIJ topics. Fellows will also participate in weekly seminars that will address progressing teaching in engineering education, community relationship building, and anti-oppressive outreach methods.
