Creating sustainability: an incoming student’s final pre-Fletcher project

One of our incoming MALD students, Peter Varnum, recently sent the office a quick update on his activities.  He’s currently in Kibera, Kenya, helping to develop and build a greenhouse at an orphanage and school, for which the greenhouse will be a sustainable source of food and income.  Peter is posting updates to his blog which, of course, explain the project far better than I can.  Plus he links to various facebook pages and twitter feeds.  I encourage you to read about the project — it’s very inspiring!  In addition (from an admissions perspective), it’s also a good demonstration of how some of our prospective students supplement their day-to-day work with projects that help them achieve their ultimate goals for graduate study and a new career.
