Admissions Tips

We’re back!

Happy new year, everyone! Here’s hoping all of our readers enjoyed some well-deserved rest and relaxation over the past few weeks. Here in Admissions it’s back to reality, and we’re eagerly looking forward to the approaching January 10 application deadline, now just a few days away.

I’ll take this opportunity to issue my usual advice/plea to consider not waiting until the very last second to submit your applications. By all means take the time you need to ensure your application is complete and as strong as it can possibly be. That said, most applicants should have things pretty well in place by now, and in most cases a few days won’t make much of a difference. Submitting a few days early means you might hear from us relatively quickly about any outstanding materials in your application file (or, happily, that your application is complete and ready for review). If you, like many other applicants, don’t click “submit” until the wee hours of January 10, though, it’s more likely that you’ll need to wait as long as ten days to two weeks for us to be able to update you on the status of your application.

If your application FEELS ready, it’s a good indicator that it probably IS ready. Go ahead and get it submitted, and feel free to kick back with that last bit of leftover eggnog while you let others deal with last-minute stress!
