Fletcher RPCVs
I’m always a lucky blogger when news or information pops onto my computer without any effort on my behalf. Such is the case for a nice list some students created of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers currently at Fletcher. Including both first- and second-year students, there are 26 RPCVs who volunteered their information. They served in the Peace Corps (each for two years) as long ago as 2003 and as recently as 2012. (Lots of people morph directly from Peace Corps volunteer to Fletcher student.) The countries in which they served are:
Armenia
Benin (2)
Bulgaria
Burkina Faso (2)
China
Georgia
Kazakhstan
Kenya
Kingdom of Tonga
Morocco (3)
Namibia (2)
Niger (2)
Paraguay
Peru
Rwanda (2)
Senegal
Tanzania
Ukraine
Uzbekistan
Zambia
The Peace Corps’s first volunteers started their work in 1961, and since then the organization has been a magnet for Americans drawn to service and international affairs. Their scope of responsibilities ranges widely, from the most basic of on-the-ground development services, to business creation, to English instruction. Fletcher benefits from their perspective and can-do attitude, and we’re fortunate that RPCVs constitute one of the largest subsets of each new Fletcher class.
