Events!

Boston Idealist fairIt’s hard to imagine more of a toe-dipping into the admissions travel season than attending a fair here in town for my first recruitment event of the fall. That’s how the schedule worked out this year, though, and so Monday night I headed over to Boston University for the Idealist grad fair, always a pretty enormous event, given the number of universities in the Boston area. It’s fun to meet locally-based prospective Fletcher students, as it reminds us of all the internationally-oriented organizations right here in town where people work.

Toronto signTuesday took me a bit farther afield, to the APSIA fair in Toronto. Perhaps because it’s in another country, Toronto feels farther away mentally than it is actually. For us, it’s a similar jaunt as heading to DC, just with customs and immigration. We normally have a handful of Canadian students in a typical Fletcher class, and I’ll be hoping to see some of the folks I met here in Toronto wandering around the Hall of Flags in years to come.

These events are great opportunities to learn more about Fletcher, as well as international careers in general. There are lots more to come this fall, and I hope that blog readers will be able to make it to some of them. On my end, I’ll next be heading to Colorado and Utah in early October, but as an office we’ll be in Mexico, Texas, North and South Carolina, East Asia, California, and a few other points in between in the coming months. See you on the road!
