Alumni update: Sofija in UN negotiations

I had the good fortune to hear recently from Sofija Korac (F10), an alumna doing exciting work as a Senior Human Rights Advisor at the United States Mission to the UN in New York City. UN watchers may have noted the recent passage of the UN Security Council Resolution on Persons with Disabilities in Armed Conflict. What particularly interests us here, though, is Sofija’s role as the lead US negotiator for the resolution, and the associated remarks she wrote that were delivered by Ambassador Cherith Norman Chalet at the adoption of the measure. You can read the full remarks here, and check out Ambassador Chalet’s tweets highlighting Sofija’s work on the measure here. Sofija hopes to find a time to return to Fletcher during the coming academic year to talk about her work, and we’ll be looking forward to her next visit. In the meantime, our congratulations on this important work in advocating for the rights of disabled persons worldwide!
