Professional Development Days with the Office of Career Services

Our Office of Career Services (OCS) is an innovative bunch, and today I’d like to share a bit about some of their recent new programming: Professional Development Days. A campus-based complement to the New York City and Washington, DC career trips historically offered by OCS, Professional Development Days give Fletcher students the opportunity to learn more about professional sectors of interest, build data visualization and GIS skills, and generally focus on their career development.

The inaugural two-day event included panel sessions on energy consulting and social impact investing careers, sector overviews in international organizations and negotiation, skills workshops in GIS and podcasting, and sessions on job and internship searches, navigating federal hiring processes, US work authorization requirements, and interview preparation. The schedule concluded with a virtual student-alumni networking event featuring Fletcher alumni from a variety of professional sectors.

For students constrained from traveling for cost, logistical, or COVID-related reasons, Professional Development days bring much of the value of off-site career events to Fletcher.
