Last fall it was my great pleasure to write about a pair of Fletcher student teams that dominated an annual cybersecurity simulation event sponsored by The Atlantic Council. FSociety, the team that won that event, is continuing its success with its showing in the National Security Innovation Network’s Dense Urban Environment Challenge. The team was named among the five finalists from a pool of dozens, and will be sponsored to advance to an in-person “hackathon” in New York City at a date to be named later (pending the safety of group gatherings). The challenge tasks teams with developing systems for mapping, monitoring, and otherwise collecting data about interior spaces for use by first responders in an urban emergency scenario. The hackathon will see teams competing for a $15,000 prize.
There’s great excitement here about the prospect of a deep playoff run for FSociety. We’ll be monitoring their progress closely!
