a. Importing a dataset or a RSS feed
Importing a dataset:
- Select Windows > Datasets. The Content: Datasets window opens.
- On the Datasets toolbar, click the Add Dataset tool. The Add Dataset window opens.
- Click the Browse tool. The Select Starting Path window opens.
- Navigate to the file to be imported and click Open. The Add Dataset window reappears.
CSV files work well.
Multiple maps can be associated with one dataset. - Fill in the Display Name field and click Continue. The data is imported into VUE.
- Records can now be dragged onto the map.
Using datasets, a good way to begin is to ask, “What question would you like to have answered?”
Importing an XML feed:
- Select Windows > Datasets. The Content: Datasets window opens.
- On the Datasets toolbar, click the Add Dataset tool. The Add Dataset window opens.
- Paste a URL in the Browse text field and name your feed.
- Click “Continue”
- Records can now be dragged onto the map.
Refreshing a dataset
Because data sets may change often and require updating, it is essential to manage these changes without destroying a map’s existing spatial arrangement by either overwriting or duplicating nodes and links.
